Australian Food Safety Week 2017

13 November 2017

Australian Food Safety Week 2017 is now on!

With an estimated 4.1 million cases of food poisoning in Australia each year, Food Safety Week highlights the importance of safe food preparation, handling and cooking and the part we can all play in ensuring that everyone can feel confident that their food is safe to eat.

It is also an opportunity to reflect on what we in the dairy industry — producers, manufacturers, transporters, retailers and regulators — need to do to ensure the safety of Victoria’s dairy products.

Food Safety Week is coordinated by the Food Safety Information Council (FSIC), Australia’s leading disseminator of community targeted food safety information. This year’s theme Is it done yet? focuses on safe cooking temperatures for high-risk foods.

More information about Australian Food Safety Week 2017 is available on the FSIC website including a list of the correct cooking temperatures, and an online quiz to test your knowledge.

The DFSV website provides tips for consumers on keeping dairy food safe along with practical information on food safety topics for the dairy industry.
