DFSV board appointments

Dairy Food Safety Victoria is pleased to announce new appointments to the DFSV Board.

Michele Allan, Noel Campbell, Julie Johnson and Joanna Wriedt will begin their terms on 12 October 2018. They will join the Chair, Dr Anne Astin and Board members, Peter Moloney and Julie Simons, who will continue in their current roles.
Dr Astin said, ‘Together, the new Board possesses the skills and experience necessary to continue driving DFSV in its mission to maintain product safety and integrity locally and globally for Victoria’s dairy industry.’

Michele Allan has an academic background in biomedical science, management and law, and held senior positions and directorships in food and agribusiness. She is currently Chair of the Boards of Apple and Pear Australia Limited, Charles Sturt University and Meat and Livestock Australia. She is a non-executive director of the Food Agility CRC, the Food and Agriculture Growth Centre, CSIRO, Nuffield Australia and Grain Growers Limited.

Noel Campbell has been a dairy farmer for 35 years and a strong representative and advocate for the dairy industry over that time. He has held the position of Australian Dairy Farmers President and Australian Dairy Industry Council Chairman, United Dairyfarmers of Victoria District Council President and Secretary, Chairman and Director of Bonlac Supply Company and Director of Genetics Australia.

Julie Johnson is a veterinarian, having worked in private veterinary business and veterinary public health. As a regional and state manager in the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, she successfully delivered animal biosecurity and welfare outcomes. She is a director on the Ballan and District Health and Care Board of Governance and currently operates a consultancy business focused on business leadership.

Joanna Wriedt holds a PhD in medical research, has worked in the public sector, including as policy adviser to the Federal Health Minister from 1998 to 2001, and also as a commercial lawyer. She is chair of the Victorian Government’s Radiation Advisory Committee, an independent director of the National Asthma Council and sits on a number of not-for-profit boards applying her governance skills.

On behalf of DFSV, Dr Anne Astin congratulated the new Board members on their appointments. ‘I also thank the outgoing members, Peter Bailey, Helen Dornom and Mick Blake for their service to DFSV. Each has made a significant contribution drawing on their specific areas of expertise.’
