Dairy Food Safety Victoria (DFSV) is a statutory authority that reports to the Victorian Minister for Agriculture.
Our vision is product safety and integrity locally and globally for Victoria's dairy industry.
Our mission is to independently regulate dairy food safety.
Established under the Dairy Act 2000 as an independent organisation, DFSV is governed by a Board and funded from dairy licence and service fees.
Under the Act, DFSV is authorised to set and charge fees for the issue, transfer and renewal of dairy industry licences and the provision of services.
Licence fees and charges are set annually by the DFSV Board in consultation with the Victorian dairy industry. Under cost recovery arrangements with Dairy Australia, DFSV also receives income for coordinating the Australian Milk Residue Analysis (AMRA) Survey. DFSV’s budget for 2015-16 of $5.91 million was allocated across its various business functions as indicated in the following graph.
